“SAVE ELECTRICITY” Campaign Attracts the Students of
St. Xavier’s College and St. Xavier’s College of Management & Technology



St. Xavier's College & St. Xavier’s College of Management and Technology, Digha, Patna, organized a talk on “Save Electricity” today. Besides highlighting the importance of conserving energy, the talk also focussed on the effects of mono-culture plantation on the environment. The show is part of the ongoing “Save Mother Earth” campaign being run by the Tarumitra Ashram, Digha.

A Tarumitra delegation has recently come back from a 15-day campaign in Kerala for saving electricity. The delegation was led by Fr. (Dr.) Robert Athickal, SJ, director of Tarumitra, and comprised of Ms Magaret, the coordinator of organic farming at Taru-Mitra, Ankit, Avinsash and Uday, students of St. Xavier's College, Patna and Ms. Shweta Marandi, a student of Patna Women's College.

The delegates shared their experience with a joint-session of students of St. Xavier's College and St. Xavier's College of Management & Technology, Patna. Shweta Marandi started the talk, followed by the other student members of the delegation. Through an impressive PowerPoint presentation they stressed about the need to use electricity judiciously and efficiently. They also highlighted the energy crisis in Kerala that has sprung from irresponsible and wasteful use of electricity in the state. Speaking next, Ms. Margret highlighted the effects of Mono-Culture Plantation on the environment.

After the presentations, Fr. (Dr.) T. Nishaant, SJ, the principal of St. Xavier's College, Patna, led an interactive session with the students. The programme concluded with a vote of thanks by Aditya of St. Xavier's College of Management & Technology, Digha, Patna.
