“Youth, March with St. Francis Xavier” – the staff and students of St. Xavier’s College and St. Xavier’s College of Management and Technology, Digha Ghat organized a colorful cultural programme re-living this theme on their Patron’s Day. The Programme was organized by Mr. Joel D’Cruze, the experienced staff member and Event Manager, which commenced at 3.00 p.m. in the college premises. Together with Mr. Animesh Karn, the Chair person of Cultural Committee, they left no stone unturned to give the 1250 odd invitees-guests, parents and students a memorable evening.

The Vice-Chancellor of AKU University Prof. Dr. S. N. Guha, the Chief Guest; and Mr. Donald Galstaun, Director of St. Karen’s Group of Schools, Guest of Honour, were welcomed by the beat of the College Band. On a colorful, open air stage, Rohit, Shilpa, Antra and Anural were the anchors for the evening. The students and staff labored hard to put up the group dances, songs and skits. Responsorial prayer service by Sr. Anupam & group, a prayer dance by Kavita & group, a group song by Charu & group, a skit written and directed by Fr. Raymond, etc, were the highlights of the evening. .

Nikita’s group made the audience rock to the tune of the re-mix of Nagare Sangh Dhol Baje. The Chief Guest Mr. S. N. Guha said, “Unless there are similar institutions like St. Xavier’s Colleges, the future of higher education in our country is very bleak.” He said that not even a single university in India is counted in the best 200 universities in the world. The Guest of Honour Mr. Donald Galstaun spoke about the need to establish educational institutions with moral and ethical values. Fr. Raymod Cherubim, SJ, the Controller of Examinations, proposed the vote of thanks. .
