Release of the Book by Fr. Dr. Prakash Louis

Mr. Amir Subhani IAS, the principal secretary of home ministry & secretary of minority welfare department, Government of Bihar released the book on “RIGHTS OF THE MINORITIES IN INDIA” by Fr. Dr. Prakash Louis, SJ. during a function held on 25th November 2013 at Seva Kendra, Patna in the presence of Most Rev. William D’ Souza, SJ, Archbishop of Patna; Rt. Rev. Sebastian Kallupura, Bishop of Buxar; Fr. Dr. Jose Vadassery, SJ, President Patna Jesuit Society; Fr. Lawrence Paschal, SJ, Administrator of Bettiah Diocese, Bihar; Fr. Peter Arockiasamy, SJ, Principal, St. Michael’s School; and many well wishers.

This book focuses on the rights of the minorities in India. It examines the various efforts made during the last three decades since many commissions and committees were appointed to examine the status of the minorities in India. These were also asked to propose measures to alleviate the deprivations that they are subjected to and to bring them at par with the majority community. Some specific schemes were also worked out for their development. But these efforts seem to be found wanting. At the international arena too many efforts were made to protect the rights of the minorities. But these too seem to remain at the most good intentions. This book tries to unravel these and suggest measures for proper and timely interventions.
