Education for Social Change: Annual Day at St. Xavier’s



St. Xavier’s College and St. Xavier’s College of Management & Technology, Patna, jointly organized the FIFTH ANNUAL DAY PROGRAMME on 1st March, 2015 at the college campus at 4 PM. Showcasing the multi-dimensional talents of its students, the event witnessed a massive turn-out of dignitaries, parents and guests who looked glad watching their wards perform on stage.

Aspiring to become a vital link between the studious world of academics and the prolific domain of co-curricular activity, the celebration of the ANNUAL DAY PROGRAMME is a platform to nurture wholesome development of students’ personality in a collegial and congenial atmosphere. The theme of the celebration was “Education for Social Change”.

The programme began with the ceremonial lighting of lamp by eminent dignitaries. The Chief Guest, IAS Shri. Narmadeshwar Lal, Secretary, Animal Husbandry & Fisheries Resource Department, Government of Bihar graced the occasion as did the eminent Guest of Honour, Dr. Jessie George Modi, Principal, Women’s Training College, Patna University and Special Guest, Padmashree awardee and Founder President of Nari Gunjan, Dr. Sr. Mary Sudha Varghese, SND. The Principal, Dr. Fr. T. Nishaant, SJ welcomed the guests. The luminaries shared their views with the august gathering on the noble mission of institution building.

This was followed by a dazzling array of cultural programmes centred round the theme of Education for Social Change. While Charu’s Group presented a Qawalli on social awareness themes, pantomimes presented by Vivek’s and Boney’s Teams highlighted the ill-effects of drug addiction and cell phone use. Brilliant composition was the hallmark of the Group Dances and Creative Kinesics presentations by Ritesh’s, Ankita’s, Puja Beenco’s and Chetan Sah’s teams emphasising the need to empower girls, nurture differences and respect individual uniqueness. A Nukkad titled, “We, the People” was presented by first year students under the competent direction of Swaroop Mitra. The meet was skilfully anchored by student compares Abhishek Bharti, Aaryan, Deepa Kumari and Shivangini Chari.

All activities were co-ordinated by the Core Committee comprising Chief Coordinators of the event ably assisted and competently supported by the Vice Principal, the Controller of Examinations, the Cultural Committee and all the Professors and students of the college. The Rector, Fr. Jose Thadavanal, SJ, proposed the Vote of Thanks.
