SONGS, DANCES AND SKITS MARK ANNUAL DAY



Scintillating songs, spectacular dances and thought provoking skits, meaningfully woven around the theme, Yuva Jaage To Desh Aage, marked the Annual Day celebrations at St Xavier’s College (SXC), Patna and St Xavier’s College of Management and Technology (SXCMT), Patna on Saturday 1st March 2014. .

This co-educational undergraduate Christian Minority Institution located on a sprawling 36 acre Campus at XTTI on the Digha Ashiana Road, with the motto, “Pravahito Gyan Ganga Pravah”, aims to develop the whole person to be fully human, fully Indian, truly modern, open to God and to all people. The programme was conducted on the multi-coloured, open air stage, commencing with the traditional lamp-lighting ceremony amidst the chanting of sarvesham svastirbhavatu, followed by a symphony of welcome melodies by Charu and group and felicitation with eco-friendly potted plants.

Synchronising the energy, confidence and exuberance of youth; demonstrating their aspirations, portraying youth redeeming themselves by excelling in non-conventional careers and displaying belief in oneself and triumph over adversity, the group leaders Rakshit, Shreya, Chetan and Deepak were all out to prove the mettle of youth. Raasta Idhar Hai, a skit showing the correct path to youth who have gone astray was put up by Manish and group while Prerna and group who presented the grand finale dance, Aadhi Aabaadi Ka Sach, depicting the plight of the Girl Child and Women’s Rights stole the show. .

The College Magazine-Xavierian Waves, painstakingly done by students and staff under the direction of Prof Kalpana was released by the Chief Guest Mr Brijesh Mehrotra IAS, together with a message and certificates for students with potential for Excellence and Best Overall Development. He opined, ‘Enjoy with Responsibility’ is a good concept. I have learnt it today from Vishal Singh B.Com Part III. All students imbibe with themselves this quality. Youth have many opportunities today. They are connected 24x7. .

The Guest of Honour, Mr Manu Maharaj SSP also delivered a message and gave certificates to winners of various competitions, while the Special Guest Mr. Anand Kumar, RPO also gave a message and certificates for Best Attendance and Academic Performance. The College Annual Report was read by the Principal Fr Nishaant S.J. The Anchoring was done by Santosh, Purnima, Shivangi and Vishal, while the Vote of Thanks was given by the Rector Fr Thadavanal S.J. Yuva Jaage, To Desh Zaroor Aage Jayegi!, remarked Best Student awardee, Priyanka Rani B.Com(H) III. .
