CAMPUS INTERVIEW OF HOSPITALITY STUDENTS DB TECH, ASHA DEEP, MUZAFFARPUR

A campus interview by Barbeque Nation and Sodexo was held on 14th and 18th September 2013 respectively at Asha Deep Muzaffarpur. The HR manager of Barbeque Nation Chain Restaurant, Mr. A K Birwani and Sodexo Bihar & Jharkhand placement officer, Mr. Amrendra Kumar had come from Indore (M.P) & Bangalore respectively. 20 students from hospitality domain participated in campus interview.

The Barbeque restaurant established in January 2006, the fastest growing domestic restaurant chain has 36 outlets across India, which aims at having 46 outlets by March2014.

Sodexo India On-Site Services is a French MNC providing quality life services in area of Facility Management and Food Solutions in the Hospitality sector. Basically, Sodexo is involved in running kitchen, catering & housekeeping services in large Industrial areas & MNCs all over the world. In India at present, expansion of Sodexo is in 22 states; its head office is located in Mumbai and has 4800 employees.

11 students have been selected for Sodexo, Banglore and 5 students for Barbeque Nation, Mumbai.

EXPOSURE VISIT OF SALES & MARKETING DOMAIN

An exposure visit was arranged for the sales & marketing domain students on 07th September 2013. The venue was Max Mart, Muzaffarpur (Bihar).

Max Mart is a super market which can provide all kinds of necessary items and products like food items, electronic items, furniture, clothes, cosmetics, etc. under one roof. The cost of all items & products available in this mart is very affordable in comparison to any other shops. To attract the customers this mart provides special and attractive offers on the purchase of any specific item. The ambience is wonderful and gave good exposure to all the students. A total number of 21students visited the market.

Mr. Dharmendar Singh is the Sales Manager of Max Mart. He was very hospitable and was very much appreciative of this visit. The students learnt about sales methods & sales techniques. Here they were taught about the importance of sales and types & parts of sales process and how they affect the mind of the customer who comes to purchase the products or services.

After that the students went to visit the Cash Counter to know the methods of billing. They were shown about the various departments in a Mart. Then the students were taken to visit marketing department. There they learnt about the basic differences between sales & marketing.

After that the students visited the store room where store in charge explained to students what is the importance of store room in Max Mart and they were shown the types of things a store room contains & he also explained as to how you can maintain the store room in a systematic way. The whole atmosphere was is quite surprising; it gave a good exposure to all the students. For some of the trainees this is the first experience in their life in such a big super market. 6 students were selected in the process of the visit and they will be joining the Mart after the completion of the course.

EXPOSURE VISIT OF HOSPITALITY DOMAIN

An exposure visit was arranged for the hospitality domain students on 29th August 2013. The venue was Atithi Hotel & Resort, Muzaffarpur which is a renowned hotel in Muzaffarpur,a symbol of ancient guest worship which combines it effortlessly with modern-day hospitality and luxury at affordable prices. Its sheer size, the state-of-the art technology it employees and the lush green gardens and fields around it lend a unique sense of contentment and peace, inviting one and all. Built specifically with corporate needs in consideration Atithi's design is uniquely borrowed from ancient architecture and culture. Take a look and you will definitely want to be an Atithi (guest) over here. The ambience is wonderful and it gave good exposure to all the students.

A total number of 24 students visited the hotel. Mr. Manish Kumar, the Manager of Atithi Hotel & Resort, was very welcoming and was much appreciative of this visit. There is a family restaurant named Atithi Restaurant in this hotel. The students learned about setting table in a hotel. They were given a tour of the hotel. Here they were taught about the importance of aesthetics and how they affect the mind of the guests coming to stay in the hotel. Later they were taught about room service and how to take order for room service.

After that the students were taken to visit the kitchen area. They were shown about the various departments in a kitchen. The students got to know how service is done in coffee shop area. They learned about the difference between a Restaurant and a coffee shop.

After that the students were taken to visit the rooms and they were shown the type of things a room should contain. They were taught the difference between a standard room and Suite room.

Then 12 students were selected who will be O.J.T (On Job Training) here after the completion of the course.
