The Parents’ Meet for the Asha Deep’s 9th batch was organized at Asha Deep, Muzaffarpur on 21st September 2013. Mrs. Dorothy (Counsellor, L N M College of Management, Muzaffarpur) was invited as Chief Guest for the meeting. Most of the trainees’ parents and several community leaders participated in this program. Altogether there were about 200 participants apart from the trainees. The meeting commenced with a Welcome song. Then Fr. Jesuraj (Center Head) welcomed and briefed the participants about the salient features of this program and the process that Asha Deep follows to empower the needy rural youth. He also stressed upon the parents to support their children in a positive way in order to build up their career. They should be disciplined to face all the hardships during and after the training period and face the competitive world with self confidence. It was very moving to see one of the parents literally shedding tears at the change her daughter went through after coming Asha Deep.

A lot of creative items were part of the cultural program on this special occasion, which included prayer dance, folk dance, skits, tribal dance, etc. This time we invited some of the trainees who passed out of Asha Deep and are working in different places and marching towards achieving their dreams. They shared their personal experience and the behavioral changes they felt in themselves during the training and the confidence they have in the work places. Many of them shared that they support the families with their earnings. Certificates were also given to the alumni who were present. They thanked and expressed their gratitude towards Asha Deep for this skill enhancement program as this made their life change. A short power point presentation on the activities of the trainees was also shown to the parents.

Guardians appreciated the effort of Asha Deep for empowering, educating and mainstreaming the underprivileged rural youth. Several parents too spoke on the occasion expressing their deep satisfaction at the opportunity their sons/daughters got to come here and for the type of training they have been imparted. At the end of this two and half hour program parents were given a fellowship meal. Parents went back home with happiness and satisfaction with what they witnessed here. All together it has been a memorable day for parents, trainees, trainers, and Asha Deep.
