Tribute to Shri Atal Bihari Vajpayee at St. Xavier's College

PATNA, 18TH August: St. Xavier’s College and St. Xavier’s College of Management and Technology, Patna paid a heartfelt tribute to our former Prime Minister Shri Atal Bihari Vajpayee.

Rector of the Colleges, Fr. Joseph Thadavanal, SJ, Principal, Fr. Dr T. Nishaant SJ, Vice-principal, Fr. Dr Martin Poras, SJ, Administrator, Fr Dr. Raj Kumar, SJ, Finance Officer, Fr Alphonse Crasta, SJ, and the members of the teaching and non-teaching staff were present at the condolence meet.

The event was organised by the members of Kabir Club of the Colleges – Prof Kalpana Kumari and Prof Samar Reyaz – in collaboration with members of the College Poetry Club – Dr Marie Anne D’cruze and Mr Tapeshwar Prasad Yadav, under the guidance of the Principal, Fr. Dr T Nishaant SJ.

The condolence meet began with a video biography of Shri Vajpayee by Shubham Keshri and Rishav of BBE III. Shiv Nayan of BA II paid tribute to the deceased leader by reciting few lines from his poems. Shubham, Zeba and Preeti Thomas of BBE III read out few lines from the scriptures and Ms Bela Stephens, secretary to the Principal, sang a prayer song for the peace of the departed soul.

Principal of the Colleges, Fr Dr T. Nishaant SJ, Prof Samar Reyaz, of Department of Business Administration, and Ritika Bose, President of the Student Cabinet addressed the gathering.

The Principal said that Shri Vajpayee was a humanitarian and a great leader. He urged the students to be a leader like him. Adding to this, he said that our country can have communal harmony only if we follow Shri Vajpayee’s idea of ‘politics of dialogue’ and ‘politics of non-violence’.

The programme was anchored by Gaurav of BBE II and Shambhavi of BCP III.
