ST. XAVIER’S COLLEGE OF EDUCATION ON ECO-SENSITISATION
St. Xavier’s College of Education, Digha, founded in 1988 by the Jesuits of Patna Province with the motto, ‘For God and Country’ is one of the top educational institutions in the country, rated the 5th best according to the India Today survey (2016).
The students of the present B.Ed. batch have had a 2 day annual sensitisation workshop on ecology at Tarumitra, a unit of Patna Jesuit Province addressing the concern of the need for the promotion of ecological awareness. Tarumitra has a consultative status conferred by the United Nations as an International NGO.
The students, who are future teachers had sessions on ecological sensitization, environmental awareness, the need to move into organic food in daily lives and on sustainable development. It was an active attempt to get reconnected to Mother Earth. Robert Athickal, SJ, the founder and Director of Tarumitra, Ms. Devopriya and Ms. Margeret Molomo teamed up as resource persons for the same at Tarumitra.
