St. Xavier’s Colleges Organise Christmas Zeitgeist

To usher in the festive season of Christmas cheer, St. Xavier’s Colleges, Digha, organised Christmas Milan, a jolly celebration for and with Xaverian staff and students on their Digha campus. The Chief Guest on the occasion was eminent Fr. Mathew Chemplany, SJ, former Provincial Superior of Patna Province, a dedicated Patna Jesuit and an esteemed resource person, well-versed in training pedagogy, who currently works at Aatmadarshan, a centre for Spiritual Counselling. While the festive season needs no reason to set feet tapping to the frolicsome spirit of Christmas carol singing and generous giving, the Christmas Milan’s ceremonial regalia was indeed offset by the youthful spirit of the students who solemnly enacted the nativity play, sang carols and danced away to foot-tapping music. The campus resounded with the happy sounds of glorious festivity. The colourful and commendable performance of the students created a mood of pleasant bonhomie. As one first year student, Maurice, so aptly phrased it “This is the time of year to create a culture of joyful giving and peace on earth. It gives us an opportunity to bond with our alma mater.” The Xaverians’ vibrant effort was applauded. The programme ended on a festive note with the singing of Christmas carols, playing games and a sumptuous banquet organised by the college management.
