Annual Day Celebration at St. Xavier’s



St. Xavier’s College and St. Xavier’s College of Management & Technology, Patna, jointly organized the SIXTH ANNUAL DAY PROGRAMME on March 12, 2016 at the college campus. Showcasing the multidimensional talents of its students, the event witnessed a massive turn-out of dignitaries, parents and guests who looked glad watching their wards perform on stage.

Aspiring to become a vital link between the prolific world of academics and the creative domain of co-curricular activity, the celebration of the ANNUAL DAY PROGRAMME at St. Xavier’s Colleges, is a platform to nurture wholesome development of students’ personality in a collegial and congenial atmosphere. The theme of the celebration was “JODO, TODO MAT” or “TOWARDS GREATER RELIGIOUS HARMONY”. The programme began with the ceremonial lighting of lamp by eminent dignitaries. The Chief Guest, Dr Ashok Choudhary, Cabinet Minister of Education and Information Technology, Government of Bihar, graced the occasion as did the eminent Guest of Honour, Dr. Marie Jessie AC, Principal, Patna Women’s College, and Special Guest, Maj. V. K. Singh, Chairman and Managing Director, Fortuno Group.

Dr Ashok Choudhary the Cabinet Minister for Education and Information Technology, Government of Bihar, who attended the Annual Day function of St Xavier's Colleges, spoke passionately about the need to reform both school and higher education in Bihar. He has publicly promised to do his utmost to promote and push the mandate for Deemed University status for St Xavier's Colleges. He also spoke stirringly of the need for raising the bar of quality education in the state. True freedom he felt goes hand in hand with education.

The Principal, Dr. Fr. T. Nishaant, SJ welcomed the guests. The luminaries shared their views with the impressive gathering on the theme harmony and unity amid diversity. The Rector, Fr. Jose Thadavanal, SJ, proposed the Vote of Thanks.

A dazzling array of cultural programmes all of which centered round the theme were presented. While Charu’s Group presented a mesmerizing rendition of a song composed for the occasion, the skit showcased youthful thespian talent, the dance medley and musical drama highlighted the ill-effects of discord and internecine fighting. Brilliant composition was the hallmark of the Group Dance presentation by Nisha’s and Anurag’s team, while Bhupesh’s Group presented a musical drama on harmony and humanity. The meet was skillfully anchored by student compeers Anural, Piush Paul, Ahiliya and Alisha Mishra. The programme was coordinated by the Core Committee of the twin colleges, comprising Chief Coordinators of the event ably assisted and competently supported by the Vice Principal, the Controller of Examinations, the Cultural Committee and all the Professors and students of the college.
