St. Xavier’s Fraternity Celebrates Republic Day



St. Xavier’s Colleges celebrated the 67th Republic Day with fanfare. Sharp at 9:00 a. m. the Chief Guest in the presence of College management, staff and students unfurled the tricolor. The campus resounded to the solemn rendition of the Jana Gana Mana. Forthwith the gathering moved to De Nobili Hall. With the felicitation of the Chief Guest, the tone was set to a jubilant note as the audience witnessed a colorful display of students’ talents through patriotic dance, Street Play, Hindi Speech and songs. In his speech the Chief Guest commended the team effort and spirit of joie de vivre. The student compeers were superb. The programme concluded with the vote of thanks proposed by Ritika. Republic Day honors the date on which the Constitution of India came into force on 26 January 1950 replacing the Government of India Act (1935). With the adoption of the Constitution a democratic government system was established.
