READ

My experience with the Musahar community in Champaran has been a very enlighten journey. This has been a one to one educational support. READ has been the frontier in supporting the Musahars in empowering the community through education and inculcating leadership and sustainable growth. The geneses of Musahar education began with a Non-formal educational initiatives thirty years back. And today it has gradually grown as beacon of light to progress in the path of education for the downtrodden. On the other hand, the community has taught me to be patient and build in a humane approach in dealing with grass root situations.

Pramukh Manjhi
Student

I am Pramukh Manjhi hailing from Ganouli, West Champaran Bihar. At present I am pursuing my Intermediate studies in Science staying at READ. READ has been my home for the past 4 year and for me it’s a place of inclusive formation and total transformation. It’s a home for the children who are poor, oppressed and marginalized. In READ there are facilities with several opportunities to learn new things, discover my potencies and care for others growth as well. We come from different cultures, traditions, regions, religions and learn to live as one family. Our formation is not just intellectual but intertwined with all the aspects of being a balanced human person. Discipline is the hallmark of our life here. Along with bookish learning we are also introduced to responsible members by assigning different duties to be performed. This has made me self-confident and self-reliant and I am grateful for making me a person true to my name ‘’ ‘PRAMUKH’ meaning Leader of Chief.
