Republic Day Celebration at St. Xavier’s

26th January, the 66th Republic Day was celebrated across the country. The same event was celebrated with great joy and enthusiasm in St. Xavier’s College and St. Xavier’s College of Management and Technology, Digha Ghat, Patna.

Chief Guest – Dr. Fr. Jose Kalapura, SJ, the director of Xavier Institute of Social Research hoisted the flag in the presence of our College Principal Dr. Fr. T. Nishaant, SJ, the vice-Principal Dr. Sushil Bilung SJ, the Controller of Examinations Dr. Fr. Raymond Cherubin, S J, the staff and the students of the college. The students actively participated in the cultural programme that was organized. It began with a welcome note by Aishwarya Paul, followed by a speech in English by Ritika and a patriotic song by Prachi and Sonali, paying homage to our country Mother India “Vande Mataram”.

Some of the eye catching events of the day were – Hindi speech by Saurabh. He stressed on “Rastriya Ekta”, that our country will finally prevail over all dissensions. The skit Chai Pani by Nikhil and group was based on corruption prevalent in the fabric of our society. The group song “Bharat humko jaan se pyaara hai” was beautifully sung by Vikas and group.

The chief guest Dr. Fr. Jose Kalapura, SJ, spoke about how terrorism and corruption had become a part of our daily lives and how we had become intolerant of difference of caste, creed and religion. He invited the audience to rise above these and become proud citizens of the Republic of India. The programme ended by the energetic group dance by Amit, Chetan, Chandan and Ashis. The vote of thanks was proposed by Prachi.

This programme was organized by the Cultural Committee comprising the Chair Dr. Marie D’Cruz, Mr. Vineet Singh and Mr. Ashok Choudhary under the able guidance of Dr. Fr. Raymond Cherubin, SJ.
