CAPACITY BUILDING PROGRAMS AT MANTHAN…reports John Ravi

Intensive Training for Less Privileged Children

Manthan continues to have different programme in the premises. There has been two 15 days residential training programme conducted in the month of August for Class VII and VIII respectively. This programme is purely funded by two projects namely Kindermissionwerk (5 Centers) and Integrated Empowerment Action (3 Centers). This programme is solely for the 5th to 8th standard students especially the Musahar children. These children’s names are enrolled in the Government Schools. In this training programme we emphasize the overall development of the children. Special focus was given on time Schedule, Discipline, Study, Cleanliness, Games, Cultural Activities, Drawing, and some inputs on legal aid and so on. The children at large have benefited a lot in these programmes. Their behavior and life style vividly express their growth. At the end of the programme Children put up cultural programmes which is a platform for them to overcome their stage fear. These programs brought out the spontaneity of the children. One of the successes of the training was that many children were able to sit for an hour to study.

Capacity Building Training for Teachers

All the Human Resource Centres (HRC) teachers were at Manthan for one day training programme on 7th of August 2013. There were 17 participants in this programme. Lesson Plan was the main focus of this training programme. However many training on Lesson Plan was held the teachers have not grasped the importance and its utility. Fr. Anand Kerketta and Fr. John Ravi made sure that all of them understand and make a proper Lesson Plan. The sessions were very interactive and dynamic. At the end of the programme many were appreciative of this training programme which requires hard work on the part of teachers.
