Human Rights Day Celebrated at St. Xavier’s Colleges

Human Rights Day is celebrated across the world every year on 10th December.

It was observed with great enthusiasm and energy in St. Xavier’s College and St. Xavier’s College of Management and Technology, Digha Ghat, Patna today.

To mark this day the Principal of the College Dr. Fr. T. Nishaant SJ, Vice Principal Dr. Fr. Sushil Bilung SJ, the faculty members of the college, and students gathered together and amidst the chanting of ‘Maanav Adhikaron ka samman karo’ (respect human rights), walked out of the college gate and formed a human chain. Students holding placards with catchy slogans brought to the fore important the aspect of our rights as human beings at this road show.

Some of the eye catching posters read “Mighty or weak. Big or small. Human rights for all.” This was the idea of Ujjwal Mehta, a student of B.Com 3rd year. “Human Rights violation is devastation of our Nation” by Hitain of B.Com 3rd year was another slogan which caught the attention. An arresting slogan by Abhilash Choubey of B. Com 2nd year was “Hands up for Freedom, Equality, Hope, Peace, Prosperity, Justice, Rule of law and Dignity.” “Sari duniya hai ek parivaar. Sab ko mile maanav adhikar” (the whole world is one family, Let everyone get human rights) was another attractive poster. Some of the others who wrote the slogans were Rupali, Ashutosh, Abhishek, Madhuri, and Rajeev.

The programme was organized by Social Awareness Committee comprising of the Chair, Mr. Rakesh Kumar Pathak, and members Mr. Prakash Upadhyay and Mrs. Mala Kumari Upadhyay under the able guidance of Dr. Sr. Mudita Sodder, RSCJ.
