Hindi Elocution Contest Celebrates Unity in Diversity

A Hindi Elocution contest was organized jointly by St. Xavier’s College and St. Xavier’s College of Management and Technology on Friday to mark ‘Hindi Diwas’ (Hindi Day) in keeping with the annual theme of the college Jodo, Todo Mat (Towards greater Religious Harmony).

20 contestants presented poems and speech stressing the importance of peaceful coexistence, unity and harmony. Some of the contestants had written their own poems and speeches for this occasion.

Among the winners were – Anural (1st), Amarjeet Kumar (2nd) and Ahilya and Deedar who jointly shared the third position.

The results were declared by Principal Fr. Dr. T Nishant SJ. Rector Fr. Joseph Thadavanal SJ was also present on the occasion. Among the judges were vice principal Fr. Dr. Sushil Bilung SJ and controller of exams Fr. Dr. Raymond Cherubim SJ. Madhuri Kumari anchored the programme while Priya Tudu was the timekeeper. Yogesh Kumar of BMC Ist year presented songs which were enjoyed by all. Accompanying him on guitar was Alvin from BBA.

The contest was organized by the Academic Committee of the college headed by Prof. Neerja Lal with the support of Prof. Ashok Kumar, Prof. Rajeev Ranjan and Prof. Dr. Manisha Prakash under the guidance of Sister Dr. Mudita Sodder RSCJ.
